Helm's Corn Heat in Milton, Illinois (217) 723-4238 was the dealer we bought our furnace from. I drove over
to the far side of Illinois and picked it up. It was a husband and wife who sold corn furnaces and heaters out of
their garage and they were very helpful. The guy took me over to his Dad's house that had an Amaizing Corn Furnace
(built by a manufacturer in Illinois) and he let me check it out. He showed me why his A-Maize-ing furnaces built by
LDJ Manufacturing were so much better than the one his Dad
had. I hope they made some money on the deal since he spent the entire afternoon answering my questions and listening
to my bad jokes. They don't have a website and try as I might, I couldn't sell them one.
I'm speculating on this next part but bear with me. I think some guy (or woman) designed the original furnace
about 15 years ago and apparently leased/sold his design to various manufactures. LDJ has improved upon that
original design quite a bit and has gotten the improved design re-UL approved. Most of the other manufacturers have
stuck with the original PVC pipe for the auger (The LDJ uses a copper pipe) and the LDJ design is reversible (the
hopper can go on the left or right) and LDJ has made other smaller enhancements.
